Sri Viyasa Celebration of Srila Govinda Maharaj

Ankara, Turkey – 17.12.2005

The birthday of Srila Guru Maharaj… The big day expected with a great excitement has finally arrived.

The preparations has lasted for days; photos were decorated with flowers,candles were lit, food and flowers were sent and served to Dearest Govinda Maharaj. Ramaray’s mood was so different on that day that it was nearly impossible to understand.

Excitement, enthusiasm and a little bit panic… Ramaray wanted everything to be perfect, he continiously reorganized our preparations, asked questions and made statements like (are the flowers ready?, aren’t there better, nicer candles?,please bring the plates, check the light bulbs?).

Decorations starting one day earlier is about to be completed. Just waiting for the guests…

Hatha yoga classes starting early morning has been cancelled for this special occasion.

And finaly everything is ready. Our programme has started with our dear master Ramaray’s speech. He briefly explains the importance of the day and emphasizes the value added to our spiritual lives by The Guru.

It is a day full of enthusiasm and kirtan. Sixteen words of Maha mantra has been repeated from morning till evening and it was so shocking for not only us but her mother as well that Delfin at the age of 2 joined the kirtan without disturbing any of the members of that day.

It is the time for prasad… We give a break to chant the kirtan but will continue. There are new guests... We have asked someone to do a favor for us and she played the flute for us. It was an incredible voice and a nice music.

And kirtan again… Everybody says, chants the holly names of God and dances. We wish that day would never end….

Apart from all of these nice things, we have another guest, our guest of honour; it is so nice that he watches us and smiles with love…
